Evermed Mycophenolic Acid Homogeneous Enzyme Immunoassay
* CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS
Mycophenolic Acid (MPA) is an immunosuppressant drug derived from fungus Penicillium echinulatum.[1] MPA is commonly used in order to prevent tissue rejection following organ transplantation, and more recently to treat certain autoimmune diseases. MPA therapy has optimal safety and efficacy over a narrow range of concentrations and may lead to a number of adverse effects. The most critical adverse effects are acute organ rejection from inadequate dosing, or gastrointestinal disturbances, hematologic disorders (leucopenia and anemia), and infections when drug concentration becomes too high. According to study MPA exposure may vary with time and interfering medications. It is essential to monitor MPA in organ transplantation patients to achieve optimal immunosuppressive effects.
